Beginner’s Upholstery Day.

Discover the art of upholstery in this hands-on day designed for complete beginners. In a small friendly group you will learn the essential skills needed to transform tired or outdated furniture into beautiful, functional pieces. You’ll be guided step by step, at your own pace, through the fundamentals, including fabric selection, safe use of upholstery tools, stripping and preparing furniture, replacing webbing, foam, and calico, and applying professional finishing techniques.

Working on a small project, you’ll gain practical experience and the confidence to tackle future upholstery projects at home. Whether you want to restore a cherished piece, explore a new hobby, or try the day before joining our 6 week course, this day provides a friendly and supportive introduction to traditional upholstery methods. Bring your own project - please contact us to check it is manageable in a day!

Suitable for: Complete beginners with no prior experience required.
What you’ll learn:

* Upholstery tools and materials
* Removing old fabric and preparing frames
* Replacing padding, calico and webbing.
* Measuring and cutting fabric
* Stapling and finishing techniques
* Tips for achieving a professional look

By the end of the day you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to start restoring and reupholstering furniture with pride.

This is a day workshop with a maximum of 6 students. It will run from 10 - 3 pm.
Held in our bespoke studio on Zetland Street in Northallerton DL6 1NA.
Access is easy and flat.
